Some courses are already offered by Universidade Maranhense, but the new possibility is in another region of the State. For example, the Medicine course already exists on the UEMA Campus de Caixas and, now, it will also be on the Paulo VI Campus, in São Luís, capital of Maranhão.
It is worth noting that the number of vacancies for the new UEMA courses has not yet been disclosed, but will be announced in the PAES 2024 notice (Selective Process for Access to Higher Education). All vacancies are for the selection process of the second half of 2024.
The new courses are a great opportunity to train more qualified professionals to meet the job demand across the country.
For example, the Meteorology course trains a professional who works in the investigation of the Earth's atmosphere and its phenomena. The Medicine course will offer a curricular structure to train professionals who can work in health promotion, prevention and treatment of diseases, as well as in the rehabilitation of human beings.
Finally, UEMA courses are an initiative to expand access and options for the public who want to enter public universities in 2024.
