In this way, a survey carried out with Brazilian companies and young people pointed out the importance of having a technical course when applying for a job. José Saturnino, who is 20 years old, pointed out the uncertainties of someone trying to enter the job market for the first time. To overcome these obstacles, he took a technical course in electronics and, two months later, got a job in the area of creating a startup.
However, a study carried out by Fundação Roberto Marinho, Arymax and Itaú Educação e Trabalho raised data about technical training in the inclusion of young people in the labor market. Therefore, it was concluded that the lack of qualification is an obstacle when hiring. Thus, 37% of companies state that it is difficult to hire people who are finishing high school due to their lack of qualifications and their commitment and maturity.
Young people also reported that schools do not prepare them for the job market, The secretary general of Roberto Marinho Foundation, João Alegria, says that it is also necessary to improve the relationship between young people and companies.
“There is a big challenge for young people to better understand what work is like, what a work environment is, how you behave there, but there is also a challenge from point of view of the companies so that they get closer to youth cultures and can even understand that there are interesting opportunities for them there”, he reports.
According to the last School Census, of every 100 young people aged between 18 and 27, 60 complete high school and only five manage to gain access to technical education. The National Education Plan foresees the creation of 5.2 million vacancies by 2024, but at the current pace, it will take 60 years to reach this goal.
However, for the secretary general of the Roberto Marinho Foundation, “if the country knows how to organize itself correctly and has the speed of implementation of the new secondary education, in a very short time, we can see a significant increase in the offer of technical training at secondary level in the Brazil. Public education is a duty of the State, it is a commitment of everyone in society, but companies can play a leading role in this process, which, during the courses, young people can attend a work environment, have contact with professionals from companies, a series of possibilities”, concludes.
