The literacy period is essential for human development. It is in it that some basic disciplines that will be necessary for our entire life are introduced.
The literacy period is divided into four parts, which are: Pre-syllabic, syllabic, syllabic-alphabetic and alphabetical. In today's post, we'll explain each of these phases. Good class!
1st PHASE - PRE-SYLLABIC
At this first level, the child begins to realize that writing represents what is said. She tries to venture into writing and through the reproduction of scribbles and drawings. It still cannot relate the letters, with the sounds of the spoken language.
2nd PHASE - SYLABICA
At this level the child begins to notice the correspondence between the letters of what is said. Interpret the letter in your own way, assigning syllable value to each one, each syllable represents a letter.
3rd PHASE - SYLABICAL-ALPHABETICS
He begins to understand that syllables have more than one letter (he will make the transition from now using a letter for each syllable, now to recognize the other phonemes of words and start using them). It mixes the logic of the previous phase with the identification of some syllables;
4th PHASE - ALPHABETICS
Last hypothesis related to literacy. It can already adequately reproduce all the phonemes of a word, characterizing conventional writing. Finally, it dominates the value of letters and syllables.
