Hannibal Lecter, known as an iconic fictional serial killer portrayed in the film “Silence of the Lambs” and in the series “Hannibal”, available on the Prime Video platform, is characterized by its intelligence, skills and cannibalistic behavior, devouring its victims.
It is precisely because of these characteristics that Robert Maudsley earned the nickname "real-life Hannibal". Rumors about Maudsley ingesting the brain of one of his victims served as inspiration for the plot of Hannibal Lecter.
Currently, at the age of 70, Robert Maudsley faces a new sentence that condemns him to remain in his cell until the end of his life. His cell was specially designed to accommodate him, being lined with bulletproof glass and measuring around 20 m². His bed is a slab of concrete.
Due to the perception of being the most dangerous serial killer in England, Maudsley is no longer allowed to interact with other prisoners or guards, remaining in isolation for 23 hours a day. He has only one free hour to exercise in the courtyard, accompanied by prison officers.
The setting in which Maudsley is confined is one of extreme security and restriction, keeping him separate from society for the rest of his life.
