The date is a clear inspiration from festivities such as the now famous “Black Friday”, which appeared in the US market with the intention of encouraging customers through a day with exclusive discounts. Over the years, it arrived in Brazil and the rest of the world as a real success in terms of warming up the market.
During the mentioned announcement, ABRAS' vice-president, Macio Milan, emphasized that it is necessary to make the customer aware that Supermarket Day will be “bigger than Black Friday”. In this case, the idea is really to be able to insert the date in the annual consumption schedule in the same way as one waits so long for the day to buy cheap.
You have to save money, as both arrived in the country in November. The idea is to make Brazilians able to take advantage of this moment of cheaper offers to guarantee what is needed for end-of-year shopping. This includes Christmas and New Year's expenses as well.
The announcement of the new Supermarket Day took place during the ABRAS 2022 Convention, when a poll was launched among participants about the possible date. In this case, the result was very positive, as both supermarket owners and suppliers were encouraged and decided invest in this event.
