More than 408,000 people are registered in the extreme poverty income bracket in the CadÚnico database in Goiás. Of these, 77,610 were considered eligible to enroll in the Social Water Program, launched by Saneago in cooperation with the government through Law No. 21,203/2021.

On December 16, 2021, Governor Ronaldo Caiado approved the program that guarantees subsidized water bills of up to 80% for needy families. The bill was unanimously approved by the Legislative Council, with 26 votes in favor.
The “Social Water” project will give discounts on water bills, and each benefited user will be limited to one water bill. The program will last for 12 months, and its extension will have to undergo some budgetary and financial adjustments by the local government.
Saneago (Saneamento de Goiás) decided to change its strategy to reach these customers more quickly and efficiently. Therefore, over the next 60 days, company technicians will carry out registration checks on all properties that are eligible for Água Social.
Therefore, the purpose of these visits is to confirm the ownership and classification of the property of the beneficiary, so that it is possible to insert it in the Social Residential category and receive the benefits suitable.
The program is specific to the residential category and guarantees a 50% subsidy for needy families on Saneago's invoices. This offer is limited to monthly consumption of up to 20 cubic meters and applies to water bills, sewage collection, removal and treatment and a fixed minimum fee.
