Scientific data informs that the Earth's ice is melting at an accelerated rate and this is completely frightening. Research reveals that, in 1990, about 760 billion tons of ice were melted per year. In 2010, that number rose to 1.2 trillion tons. See below for more details on melting Earth's ice.

Scientific data scared millions of people by confirming that the Earth's ice melting is at an accelerated level.
NASA put together a study of the Greenland ice sheet and found that 74 glaciers that end in deep, warm ocean waters are being severely clipped and weakened. But the extent of this effect, along with the implications for sea level rise, is still being ruled out by the scientific community.
Examples of how some places on the planet would look like
By way of simulation, the business Insider came up with a National Geographic estimate demonstrating what the future of the planet would look like if sea levels rose 216 feet.
The cities of Brussels and Venice, for example, would be completely submerged. In Africa and the Middle East, Dakar, Accra and Jeddah would suffer a similar fate.
In Asian cities like Mumbai, Beijing and Tokyo, millions of people would be forced to move to inland regions. At South America, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires would be submerged.
When it comes to the United States, places like San Francisco, New York and the entire state of Florida would slowly disappear into the sea.
What to do to avoid this catastrophic scenario?
If everything mentioned above scared you, it is worth remembering that some measures should be avoided. The burning of fossil fuels, for example, makes the planet even hotter. Furthermore, they would be enough to completely melt the Antarctic ice sheet.
Therefore, it is very important that we human beings are more aware of our attitudes so that, in the future, terrifying scenarios become reality.
