The Brazilian Luiza Helena Trajano, chairman of the Board of Directors of Magazine Luiza, is, without a doubt, one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In fact, according to the US magazine Time, it is also one of the richest. The successful businesswoman's name remains in Forbes but, contrary to what many people think, Trajano is not the richest woman in Brazil.

Even though her fortune is valued at US$1.4 billion (R$6.5 billion), Trajano ranks fifth among the richest women in Brazil. Only eight Brazilian women are mentioned in the ranking, published in early April, all behind agribusiness entrepreneur Lúcia Maggi. However, with regard to the global ranking, Trajano occupies position 2,076. Among Brazilians, she is in 50th place.
However, according to Forbes, the businesswoman's fortune fell in the second half of 2021, to approximately two-thirds of her net worth. Thus, going from US$5.3 billion to US$1.4 billion. That's because the retail giant's shares are down about 70% in 2021. Thus, according to the stock exchange data, Magalu appears with a market value of R$39.89 billion. Due to this dynamic, some of Trajano's relatives were left off the Forbes list.
