In The Departed the police wage a veritable war against organized crime in Boston. Billy Costigan, a young police officer, is given the mission to infiltrate the mafia, more specifically the group led by Frank Costello. Gradually, Billy earns his trust, at the same time that Colin Sullivan, a criminal who was infiltrated in the police as an informant for Costello, also rises within the corporation. Both Billy and Colin feel distressed due to the double life they lead, having the obligation to always obtain information. However, when the mafia and the police discover that there is a spy among them, both their lives are in danger.
