This makes it an ideal choice for the cultivation indoors, which partly explains its great success in the “urban jungle” concept. However, even though it is considered a friendly plant for cultivation, the underground fern demands specific attention.

Its denomination refers to its long and gracefully hanging growth. The adaptability of the underground fern to indoor life is remarkable, as it does not require direct and intense sun exposure.

Learn how to care for your weeping fern

  1. First of all, you need to prepare the plant's house, that is, the pot. At this stage, you need to place a layer of sphagnum moss at the bottom of the vase so that its roots find an environment conducive to life;

  2. With the vase prepared, be careful when transporting the fern by subway. Transfer it to the new vase gently and paying attention to the roots. If necessary, you can use a sharp object, such as a knife, to remove the root ball from the plant;

  3. Take the plant and place it in the center of the vase prepared according to the previous indications. Once this is done, observe the vase and check that the crown of the meter fern, that is, where the leaves emerge, has a leveled edge;

  4. Carefully insert the prepared substrate into the spaces around the roots. Use gentle pressure to ensure firmness, but avoid excessive compaction;

  5. Moisten the substrate with water at room temperature;

  6. Choose a place where there are not many winds and leave it away from direct exposure to the sun;

  7. Always keep the substrate slightly moist, watering when the top layer shows signs of drying.

  8. Finally, avoid leaving the vase in a dish with water, as excess moisture accumulated can result in root rot.
