Absolute champion of the 15th National Olympiad in History of Brazil (ONHB), the Northeast ‘snapped’ 38 of the 75 medals in dispute, but it fell to Ceará guarantee the top of the national ranking in the competition, with 18 medals, with the vice-leadership being divided between Pernambuco and São Paulo, both with 11 medals.
Leading the 'second row', Minas Gerais won eight medals, followed by Bahia and Paraíba, both with six medals, and Goiás, with three. After the trio formed by Rio Grande do Norte, Acre and Rio de Janeiro – in which each state won two medals – comes the last queue, made up of Maranhão, Amazonas, Alagoas, Espírito Santo, Tocantins and the Federal District, who guaranteed a medal each one.

Held, from the 26th to the 27th of August this year, by the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) in São Paulo – with the support from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) – the competition was attended by more than 1,100 students.
According to the director of Popularization of Science, Technology and Science Education at MCTI, Juana Nunes admitted that it was “very exciting to be present for the closing of ONHB, which counts as our support. This year, it had a record number of entries. More and more students are becoming interested in science and participating in the programs offered and supported by the MCTI”.
In order to encourage students to research and study the History of Brazil, the Olympics, in this year's edition, awarded 15 medals for gold, 25 silver and 35 bronze, as well as distributing trophies to schools with medalist groups and medals of honor to merit to the others participants.
With the largest number of participants in history, the event involved 30,500 groups, equivalent to a contingent of 120,000 people, a number 68% higher than last year. Students from the eighth and ninth years of Elementary and High School participated in it. The first six online phases of the ONHB were carried out in May and June of this year, through the application of multiple choice questions, in addition to tasks that require research and elaboration of texts.
Prepared by a team of professors and researchers from Unicamp, under the coordination of professor Cristina Meneguello, from the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences (IFCH), the test The final theme presented indigenous peoples as a central theme, when addressing historical, cultural, political and social aspects of different ethnic groups that inhabit or have inhabited the territory Brazilian.
The closing of the event was marked by a musical show and the presence of authorities from Unicamp, the National Development Council Scientific and Technological Institute (CNPQ), the National Association of Historians (Anpuh), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), among others.
