In Russia, where Heineken beer had long established its seven factories as pillars of production, a surprising turn of events is now taking center stage.
The industry, which employed 1,800 workers, is being transferred in an unusual way. The news resonates with the brewery's decision to transfer its vast operation for no less than 1 euro, just over R$5 in Brazil.

The question that resonates is obvious: why does Heineken, such a solid and prominent presence in the Russian land, would choose to divest its assets in such a symbolic way?
This decision revolved around an innovative financial complex. Accompanying the sale, the revealed figure of 300 million euros comes to light, the loss that Heineken assumes as a result of the decision to leave Russia.
After a prolonged period of expectations, Heineken took a landmark decision which put an end to his activities in Russia.
This action, which took place approximately a year and a half after the company expressed its commitment to withdraw from this market, aligns with a broader scenario in which several corporations have chosen to abandon Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Based on the conclusion of this unique transaction, the company Arnest emerges as the new owner of the seven breweries, having acquired this responsibility through a symbolic payment of 1 euro.
However, in addition to this gesture, Arnest also assumes a promissory obligation: to hire the 1,800 team members who were part of Heineken's operational apparatus and ensure that they remain on staff for the next three years.
Following the neighboring country's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, several companies chose to close their operations in Russia. Now, it's the Heineken brewery's turn.
Heineken chairman Dolf van den Brink indicated that the shutdown process was longer than anticipated.
He emphasized that the transaction ensures the stability of employees and allows them to leave the country in an ethical and responsible manner.
