Modern ballpoint pens were invented in 1938. In the beginning, they were very expensive, they leaked easily because the paint was not very visible, and they failed a lot. At the end of the 1940s, they began to be manufactured in large quantities, costing less and working better. Today, a single factory can produce millions of these fantastic instruments per day. And there is already a ballpoint pen that writes upside down.
