In recent days, the video of a hippo that attacked a zoo employee in China went viral on social media. The man entered the place to try to separate two animals that were fighting for space.
However, the attention of one of the animals turned to the employee and the hipoppotamus advanced against him. In the images, it is possible to see that the man even tries to escape the animal, but ends up slipping. In the content, you can see the animal grunting and showing its teeth.

The incident took place at the Changsha Ecological Zoo in Hunan province, China, last Sunday (24). The information was passed on by the Daily Mail news portal. Luckily, the victim, who is a Zoo employee, was unharmed.
In the images, it is possible to see that the animal runs after him with plants in its mouth, releasing them as the man falls to the ground and tries to defend himself using his hands and legs.
Soon after letting out a grunt, the animal walks to the other side, at which point the man takes the opportunity to get up and run. He manages to escape when the animal turns in another direction. See the video in full here.
After the content went viral, mainly on X/Twitter, the management Zoo Chinese took a stand and guaranteed that he will open an investigation into what happened.
“Zoo staff have been instructed on when it is safe to enter all animals’ enclosures. They should take extra care and avoid situations where males are in combat or when females are in heat,” the Changsha Forestry Department said in a statement.
Although attacks by these animals are rare, their bites can be fatal. Last month, a South African head of environmental crimes investigation named Kobus de Wetno died after suffering a hippo attack in Kruger National Park.
