A new study, published by the journal Nutrients, evaluates the relationship between the incidence of cases of breast cancer, with dietary phosphate intake. It was discovered that the lower the levels, the lower the risks.
In total, the research took into account more than 3,000 women from the United States, of different ethnicities, between the ages of 42 and 53, exclusively in pre-menopause.

The study also compared each case of cancer with 4 types of controls, in addition to taking into account the group that was not exposed to the ingredient.
Among the results, what most caught the researchers' attention was that, in cases of exposure at levels greater than 1800 mg of phosphate per day, there is a greater risk of breast cancer.
However, scholars made it clear that more research is still needed, with a larger group of people, to have more precision in the results. You can check out the study in full by clicking this link here.

Phosphate can be found in several ultra-processed foods, such as soft drinks. A can of cola-based flavors (such as Coke, Pepsi and the like) already has more than enough to exceed the healthy intake of the ingredient.
This group of soft drinks was the only one, among all, that exceeded the recommended daily consumption amount by 3 times.
However, it is worth highlighting that, although in lower proportions, other soft drinks also have high amounts of phosphate.
In addition to the possible relationship with breast cancer, as expressed in the study, there is a link with other diseases. For example, osteoporosis — the loss of bone mass, leaving bones weaker — and chronic kidney disease.
