The brand justifies the initiative with customer complaints about child behavior, reporting that children disturb other consumers, due to disruptive attitudes, such as shouting uncontrolled.
An additional fee of US$10 will be applied in such cases when the child is screaming or, as indicated, is “out of control”.
The restaurant’s warning to customers quickly went viral on social media, resulting in a flood of comments on Angie’s Oyster Bar & Grill’s Google page.
Many of these comments expressed strong dissatisfaction with the establishment's policy aimed at families with children.
Users highlighted that such a measure could be seen as a form of discrimination not only against families with children, but also against families with children with special needs.
The controversy led to negative reviews, including a one-star review, from dissatisfied customers.
There are environments that were not designed to welcome children, such as clubs or very busy places. The restaurant's attitude in Singapore was not viewed favorably as it was a common establishment.
