Both cases of lunar and solar eclipse involve the alignment of the Earth, the Moon and also the Sun, however, each depends on how these celestial bodies are positioned.

These events occur when each of the stars align in different ways, which may cause changes in their appearance.
Furthermore, it is possible to see different characteristics depending on where the phenomena are observed on Earth.
A lunar eclipse, for example, happens when the Sun aligns directly with the position of the Earth, while the moon is on the other side of the planet, causing our planet to project its shadow onto the surface of the Moon, generating the event.
Unlike the case above, a solar eclipse occurs when the same stars are positioned with the Moon superimposed on the Sun, and the Earth is on the other side.
This causes our satellite to create a shadow and block direct sunlight from reaching Earth.

A lunar eclipse has two variations: the “penumbral” and the “umbral”. In the first case, the Moon appears to be darker, passing through less light.
During the umbral eclipse, it is possible to see the natural satellite with redder characteristics due to the brightness of the Sun and the shadow cast by the Earth.
Furthermore, it is possible to see during the solar eclipse in three variations “partial”, “total” and “annular”. In the first situation, we see the Moon partially cover the Sun's brightness.
In the case of a total eclipse, Earth's satellite completely overlaps the star's silhouette, appearing darker.
However, the annular case is one that attracts the most attention, because, depending on the position of the Moon in comparison to the Sun, the star creates a kind of ring around the moon's silhouette. This creates a mysterious, reddish appearance with a dark center.
