In the northeastern hinterland, there lived an old man named Alexandre. Half hunter, half cowherd, he was full of conversation - he spoke spitting, foaming like a cane toad. What attracted the most attention was his crooked eye, which he got when he went hunting the pampa mare, at his father's request. Alexandre walked around the backlands, but he didn't find the mare. He fell asleep in the woods, and when he woke up, he mounted an animal he thought was the mare. It was an ounce. In the rush, he injured himself with tree branches and was left without an eye. Alexandre until he tried to put his eye back in the hole, but he did it wrong. He got a crooked eye.
