What Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and X (formerly Twitter) and Bill Gates, creator and founder of Microsoft, have in common? In addition to being billionaires and very influential in the field of technology, both admitted that they have already applied the 5h Rule in their routine.
The technique, created by writer and entrepreneur Michael Simmons, involves people dedicating an hour of their life, five times a week, to learning and deepening their knowledge on a topic.

In theory, the 5h Rule is divided into three main parts: reading, reflection and experiment.
First, according to Simmons, you should look for some research sources on the topic you are studying. Read texts from trusted authors and authorities on the subject for about 20 to 30 minutes every day.
In the second part, you will think about what you just read. This can be done after reading or interspersed with it. The author's idea is that, by reflecting on what you are consuming, there is a greater chance of assimilation and learning – in addition to memorization and internalization of knowledge.
Finally, there is the experiment. Here, the technique gets a little more abstract. Michael Simmons suggests that the person apply what they have absorbed and, in some way, test the veracity of what they find and decide whether or not it is useful for their daily lives.
It's all about transforming the technique into a habit that you do every day. You can apply it to music, drawing or knowledge in your professional field.
The key to the 5:00 Rule is that repetition leads to perfection and improvement.
Want a practical example? In music, you start training by reading about music theory and, in the meantime, taking notes or trying to correlate what you studied with what you already know. Then, do half an hour of training with the instrument to assimilate what you saw in books or articles.
Want one more? At the gym! Yes, you can even use it when working out! You can read or consume some content about bodybuilding (or about the physical activity you practice). Then, assimilate what you consumed and, finally, apply what you learned in your daily training.
