Hachiko's story began in 1924, when Professor Hidesaburo Ueno, from Japan, adopted an Akita Inu puppy. The bond between the teacher and the puppy quickly strengthened, becoming a friendship that would touch the hearts of everyone who met her.
However, this friendship was abruptly cut short in May 1925 when Professor Ueno passed away, leaving Hachiko just 16 months old.

What makes this story so heartbreaking is the fact that Hachiko didn't fully understand the death of her beloved owner. He continued to wait for Professor Ueno at the Shibuya train station, where the two used to meet daily.
Day after day, month after month, and year after year, Hachiko waited at the station, hoping to see his owner again.

In 1934, nine years after Professor Ueno's death, a bronze statue was erected in Hachiko's honor at Shibuya Station, where he waited faithfully for so long.
