ONCE A Mummy Paw had 5 eggs. She looked forward to the day when her eggs would break and their dear children would be born!
When that day came, the mother duck's eggs began to open, one by one, and she happily began to greet her new ducklings. But the last egg took longer to break, and Mom started to get nervous…
Finally, the shell broke and, to the surprise of the mother duck, there came out a duckling that was very different from all her other children.
– This ugly duckling can't be mine! exclaims mommy paw.
– Someone played you a prank. Affirms the neighboring chicken.
Days passed, and as the ducklings grew, the ugly duckling became more and more different from the other ducklings.
Tired of being mocked by his brothers and all the animals on the farm, the ugly duckling decides to leave.
Brothers make fun of the ugly duckling Even far from the farm, the duckling could not find peace, as his brothers chased him across the lake, shouting:
– You're the ugliest duck we've ever seen!
And wherever he went, every animal he encountered made fun of him.
With the arrival of winter, the tired and hungry duckling finds a home and thinks:
– Maybe here I'll find someone who likes me! And so it was.
The duckling spent the winter cozy, in a warm house and in the company of those who liked him. Everything would have gone well if spring hadn't come and with it, an evil cat, who, deceiving the owners of the house, ran with the duckling out of there!
– Once again I am alone and unhappy… Sighed the ugly duckling.
The ugly duckling discovers that it is a swanThe duckling went on his way and, when he reached a large lake, he took refuge next to some reeds, and there he stayed for several days.
One day, very early, the ugly duckling was awakened by children's voices.
- Look! A newcomer! shouted one of the children. All the other children were shouting for joy.
– And it's so beautiful! Said another.
Beautiful?… Who are they talking about? thought the ugly duckling.
Suddenly, the ugly duckling saw that everyone was looking at him and, seeing his reflection in the water, he saw a large and elegant swan.
– Oh!… Exclaims the admired duckling. Children and other swans admired his beauty and greeted him happily.
After all he was not an ugly duckling but a beautiful young swan!
From that day onwards, there were no more sorrows, and the ugly duckling that was now a beautiful swan lived happily ever after!
