What is the difference between rabbits and hares?

Many people must have confused rabbit and hare, because the cute animals are really very similar.

The two species belong to the order lagomorph and the main difference is in the size of the animals' body and ears.

Rabbits are smaller and have short ears, while larger hares have ears that can be bigger than their heads. They also have large hind legs and greater strength, which makes them more agile.

Another difference is noticed when they are still babies: while bunnies are born naked and blind, young hares are born furry and with eyes wide open.

What's more: the gestation period of rabbits lasts from 28 to 32 days, and up to 15 offspring can be born. As for the hare, the time reaches 40 days and a maximum of 4 babies are born at a time.

Also, rabbits nest underground and hares nest on the surface.

There, the confusion is over!
