The blue whale can be found in all oceans on the planet, although it flees from the warmer waters, as its preference is for the colder waters, rich in food.
The basis of the blue whale's diet is krill, a small shrimp-like crustacean with a few centimeters in length. An adult whale of this species can eat more than 3 tons of this food per day.
In danger! It is estimated that there may be as many as 6000 of these mammals on the planet. The cause of such low numbers was the hunting of these animals from the second half of the 19th century until the 60s of the 20th century. During this period, 350,000 blue whales may have been hunted.
At this time, the species is protected and its hunting is prohibited by almost every country in the world.
