Considered one of the greatest English-language novels, this book follows the coming of age of Jane Eyre, an inquisitive and charismatic character who has left her mark on literature. After becoming an orphan and, still in her childhood, living in her aunt's house, facing the most difficult deprivations, Jane spends years in a boarding school, where she receives an education and, later, a job. Contrary to what was expected of a woman at the time, the protagonist seeks new challenges and becomes Miss Adèle's governess, Mr. Rochester's protégé. Between Jane and her new boss, a ravishing passion is born, obscured, however, by a grave secret he carries. First published in 1847, Jane Eyre is a masterpiece by Charlotte Brontë, which paved the way for others writers and revolutionized literary work by creating a protagonist with unusual longings, reflections and attitudes for her own time.
