April 8 is considered, in Brazil, the World Astronomy Day. There are disagreements as to the date of this celebration. But, contrary to popular belief, the expression “World Day” does not mean “International Astronomy Day”. The nomenclature of “International Day” is reserved only for days made official by the United Nations (UN).
There is, in fact, an International Astronomy Day. Although not made official by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) or the UN, it is celebrated in several countries. That day is linked____ phases of the Moon and is therefore a moving date.
Controversies aside, any occasion is valid to talk about the universe. After all, the sky has always been a place of fascination for man and, for a long time, it was the only reference used to regulate people's lives.
