See too:
From the forest in the shadowy breast,
In the green breast of the mountain,
The generous river is born,
Which is the providence of the earth.He is born humble; and, little one,
Flee in the blazing sun;
It's a trickle, so thin,
That glides without a sound.Between the stones,
It gains body, opens the way,
Already sings, already riots,
In a happy buzz.Now in the sun, which silvers it,
Everyone surrenders, smiling;
Advance, the rocks flank,
Add up, reappear.Receive other waters, come down
The slopes one by one,
The vacancies thicken, and it grows,
Climbs the boulders, and foam.Now, untamed and daring,
It transposes caves and grottoes,
conquer abysses, crash
In jumps and waterfalls.And run, gallop, full
Force; from vacancy to vacancy,
It reaches the valley, enlarges the breast,
Dig the earth, the field floods.. .It expands, opens, ingent,
For a hundred leagues, singing,
Until it finally falls,
In the vast bosom of the sea.. .But in triumphant majesty
From this victorious march,
how much love, how much kindness
In your generous soul!Every step I took
the noble river, happy
Another tree created,
Giving life to a root.How many gifts and how many
Alms along the way!
Quenched the plants' thirst
And the birds' thirst.. .Source of strength and abundance,
It was good, it was health and bread:
It gave the cities freshness,
Fertility in the hinterland.. .And a noble healthy example
In its waters it is closed;
We must be like the river,
What is the providence of the earth:Blessed is he who is strong,
And unaware of the rancor,
And instead of serving death,
Love life, and serve Love!

olavo bilac (1865 – 1918) is the author of the lyrics of the Anthem to the National Flag. He was one of the propagandists of abolition, closely linked to José do Patrocínio. In addition to holding various public positions in the state of Rio de Janeiro and former Guanabara, he was in favor of obligatory military service, which he considered a form of expression of love.
Considered the greatest Brazilian Parnassian name, he was one of the founders of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Correctness of language, rigor of form and spontaneity are the main characteristics of his verses.
From the forest in the shadowy breast,
In the green breast of the mountain,
The generous river is born,
Which is the providence of the earth.
Olav Bilac, like other important Parnassian poets, he often employed the construction figure called hyperbatic, which consists in the inversion of the natural order of the terms of the clause.
