NAME:
– You can call me Bumba-meu-boi. I am a different ox, colorful and partying. Made of cardboard, wood, cloth and ribbons. My party is from November to January 6th. Inside me is a man dancing. I spin, walk, run, play and move non-stop. People get excited when someone tries to horn. Now that you know me a song I'm going to sing it.
All over Brazil, everyone knows me. I have a different name in each region. With music and dancing I tell this story: my boss found me dead and he was sad. They called the shaman and made a procession. With prayer and animation he raised me up. Boi-Bumbá, Boi-de-Reis, Boi-Calemba. Anyway, my party is a tradition. Wherever I go I go playing and having fun. The people accompany me with great euphoria. They are dressed as cowboys, with colorful clothes. We went from house to house, with great joy.
