Monteiro Lobato was truly one of the greatest men in the history of this country. A great writer, celebrated by generations and generations of children for his spectacular work “O Sítio do Picapau Amarelo”, Lobato was also an entrepreneur. In addition, through all his productions and achievements he wanted why he wanted to make Brazil grow, develop, occupy a prominent place in the world.

Originally from the interior of São Paulo, more specifically from the city of Taubaté, the writer did a little of everything in his life. What remains in the national collective memory is its strong connection with children. Proximity and affection achieved with the support of Narizinho, Emília, Visconde, Pedrinho and other characters on the site. In his works dedicated to children, Lobato has achieved real feats such as telling the story of the world making it fun and attractive for the little ones, or even talking about adult and serious topics in a relaxed way, such as the question of Petroleum.

Justification:

Getting to know Monteiro Lobato's work should be a basic activity programmed by all schools in our country. Getting to know the site and its characters, exploring the pages written by Monteiro Lobato, is very more than a school duty, it is a great pleasure and essential contribution to our own feeling. Lobato means high quality literature and history. Not reading his works means giving up books that symbolize our own identity. The Pica-pau Amarelo site was a way that we, Pre II teachers, found to introduce students to this wonderful writer, developing in students the passion for reading.

Problematic:

Our students are very fond of stories and drawings. That's why we decided to work, in the month of Monteiro Lobato's birthday, on two things: stories and drawings. The design of the Sitio do Pica-pau Amarelo is a resource that we intend to use to further stimulate this taste in children. Their stories bring out even more children's creativity.

Goals:

• Meet the writer Monteiro Lobato, as well as his works:
• Create in students the habit of reading, through contact with stories;
• Awaken a pleasant environment for reading, where the child asks and feels like it;
• Provide socialization through the production of oral texts with colleagues;
• Develop interest and attention to music, reading, stories and writing.

Culmination:

• The teachers will be characterized as D. Benta and Tia Nastácia and will tell the story of the book, created by the students of Pre II, for all classes. At the end, they will receive Aunt Nastácia's rain cakes. The children of Pre II will be dressed as Emília (girls) and Visconde de Sabugosa (boys). The room will be decorated to receive school children in an environment similar to the Sitio do Picapau Amarelo. You will be received with music, the theme of this work.

JUSTIFICATION

It allows each culture to imprint its essential traits and show the identity of others. It is a vector for creation, information and education. We can read what we want, when, where and at the pace we choose.
• It is important for children to have the habit of reading because it improves language and communication with the world, their critical and creative capacity. The book attracts children due to the curiosity, format, handling and emotion of the stories. With the book you can choose between a story from the past, the present or fantasy.

GOALS

• Put students in contact with various types of books, so that they can discover them: different sizes, bindings, illustrations, languages.
• Implement or nurture the reading habit.
• Discover talents related to books: writer, diagrammer, illustrator.
• Recognize that the book is the best way to grow in wisdom and intelligence;
• Valuing moments of reading, understanding that it is the best way to awaken our knowledge of the world

ORGANIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT

• Various activities are proposed per week for each class of students. The whole school can get involved in activities such as “Book Fair”, “Reading Afternoon”, “Exhibition of Rare Books”, “Literary Books Gymkhana”, Theater and Puppet for Elementary School I and II. The room that collects the most literary books will win a morning of educational film with popcorn, juice and ice cream. One class for each shift.
