Her genetics were different from the children who were born to her. stomach. After exhaustive investigations, it was found that this mother was. a chimera.
Chimera or genetic chimerism is the nomenclature given to one. animal that has within itself two or more sets of distinct cells. In. humans, only 40 cases have been registered with this genetic disposition. The woman mentioned above is one of them.
In her case, two eggs that were fertilized merged. before the fourth day of pregnancy, the fusion of genetic information occurs. without incurring evident mutations. If this fusion takes place after the fourth day, the result is the birth of Siamese twins.
