Who has never heard of the largest biological reserve in the world? The Amazon – one of the most precious ecological assets on the planet – is a large biome, composed of several ecosystems (a system that includes living beings and the environment). 65% of the entire Amazon area is made up of tropical rainforest on terra firme, with the remainder consisting of forests of vines, meadows, dry forests, igapós, mangroves, floodplain forests, savannas, terra firme fields, floodplain fields and forests of bamboo. The entire network of rivers, streams, waterfalls, lakes, streams and dams constitute the aquatic ecosystems of the Amazon. Almost 60% of the Amazon is on Brazilian soil.
