Schools in New Delhi, India, are investing in happiness classes from kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition to encouraging students to value the positive aspects of life, the classes aim to reduce stress as the Indian education system is known to be very rigid and demanding.
In the first five minutes of class, students participate in a dynamic in which they need to close their eyes, take a deep breath and think about things that give them joy. Afterwards, they hear inspiring stories and participate in activities such as yoga and meditation.
