ant work

The little ant couldn't take any more humiliation.

She was too small, too weak, and everything that was an animal couldn't get enough of enjoying the poor thing! […]

– What is the use of such a small insect? – teased the paca.

– You're not good for anything in life! – provoked the agouti.

– A pet like that is useless! – insulted the armadillo.

Each joke, each insult, each provocation made the ant sadder […].

She then decided to do something big, something that no other animal could do […].

She went and discovered a huge lake. The view of the little ant was lost on the other side, without seeing the other bank.

- That's it! I'm going to cross this lake and everyone will see what I'm capable of!

Bravely, she dove into the lake and, after much effort, she was on the other side.

But that “huge lake” was just a little pool of water!

She didn't give up, however. Ahead, she saw a very long stick that was probably the mast that held the sky up.

– I found out! I'm going to gnaw this stick and the sky comes down. I want to see later who will make fun of me, saying I'm nothing!

With determination, the ant began to gnaw the stick with its little stinger. Gnawed, gnawed, gnawed, until – tec! – the so-called “mast that held the sky” fell… And she noticed that it was just an idle slash, incapable of supporting anything!

Already desolate, the ant looked at a hill. That hill seemed awesome! It was too much. He filled his spirits and went there. She plucked up a clod of earth and carried it away. She came back and brought another little clod. And another, and another, and another...

One day, she was already more than tired, more than old, when she stopped to look at what she had been doing all that time, with all that effort, with all that dedication.

And she discovered, with pride, that despite being small, so weak, with her work, with her persistence, day by day, she had managed to move the whole mountain around!
