Some peoples were hunters, gatherers, and nomads and lived in dense, dense rainforests. Others were farmers, lived in high altitude regions and built imposing buildings. Aztecs, Olmecs, Incas, Caribbeans, Tupinambás, Tamoios, Cheyennes, Siouxs, Comanches, among others, were some of the hundreds of representatives of pre-Columbian cultures. However, it is common to use the expression “Indians” to all cultures and inhabitants of America before the arrival of the Europeans. It is a generalizing name that fails to translate the complexity and diversity of these cultures.
