Ideas for activities:

  • Research pictures with the students and set up a mural with the various types of trees.
  • Assemble a panel with engravings that portray the benefits of the tree. (It serves as a shelter for animals, used to make furniture, etc.)
  • Ask students to research deforestation vs. sustainable development (recommended activity for students in grade 3 onwards). Talk about sustainable logging.
  • After talking about the importance of trees in food, you can have a collective snack with fruits, hearts of palm, teas, etc...
  • Set up a group activity on brown paper, draw a tree and ask students to collect dry leaves and green fallen from the trees, write if you know the name of the tree that belongs to the leaf.
  • Do the activity adopt a seedling, if possible buy seedlings and distribute to students on tree day for them to plant in their homes, if there is space at school, plant with them, or on the sidewalks of the neighborhoods. (Ipê seedlings are good for planting on sidewalks, as they beautify the streets and their roots do not spoil the sidewalks. Fruit trees; Avoid fruits larger than a guava. Nobody likes to find a jackfruit or a sleeve on the roof of a car. Some fruits can stain the paintwork of cars. Fruit trees attract birds.)
