One of writer Jules Verne's best adventure novels, “The Mysterious Island”, first published in 1874, gets a new edition with the impeccable adaptation made by one of the great names of Brazilian literature, Clarice Lispector. The book tells the story of five abolitionists who escape in a balloon. After several days of storm, one of them falls overboard and disappears while the others fall over a rock in the middle of the ocean. The four survivors seek at all costs to find their missing friend, organizing their lives on the unknown island located near the rock. Strange events, however, put their physical and emotional integrity at risk, leading them to believe in the existence of a secret force – what secrets, after all, does this mysterious island keep?
