The constitution and organization of the family structure are not static. Throughout history, families have gone through several transformations. In general, these changes implied substantial changes in the situation and social role of women. Currently, women remain in school for an average of 7.2 years, while men remain in school only 6.9, on average, according to IBGE data.
Explain to the students that, despite the ongoing transformations, Brazilian women continue to have greater share of responsibilities, since in general also assumes the household chores and the education of the sons. Next, try to show how remarkable the appearance of several other phenomena associated with the transformation of the social role of women is remarkable. Try to give an example, showing numbers on the increase of families where the provider is the woman. Point out how this has changed today, as they achieved inclusion in these activities. Ask whether, despite these achievements, many gender differences still remain.
