How many bones do you have? Will it be that when it grows up, it will have as many bones as it does now? Breno Henrique and Yahonan, both 10 years old and Maria Alice, 11 years old, who live in Belo Horizonte, Samuel who is also 10 years old and lives in Caeté MG, and Adaria, through the website, left us the question from above. See what the medical student at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Camila Rabelo, said about the subject:
“When you were born, you had about 300 bones. You grew and your bones grew too. Except that in addition to growing, many bones have joined, or will join, with others forming a single bone. Therefore, we can say that as we grow, we have less bones in our body. When you become an adult, you will only have 206 bones.
So, be aware that bones grow and change, that is, they constitute living tissue! Bones are important for supporting muscles and protecting organs. So, take good care of them, eating foods rich in vitamin D, playing sports and getting a little sun daily.”
