Once upon a time there was a beautiful garden with apples, oranges, pears and beautiful roses. Everything was joy in the garden, except for one tree that was deeply sad. The tree had a problem: it didn't know who it was or what it had to do.
— It's very easy to make tasty apples. Why not try? said the apple tree.
"Don't listen to her!" It's better to have roses. Can't you see how beautiful they are? said the rosebush.
And the desperate tree, trying everything that was suggested to it, but it failed to be like the others, felt increasingly frustrated.
One day an owl, the wisest of birds, arrived in the garden, and seeing the despair of the tree, exclaimed:
— Don't worry, your problem is not serious, many beings on Earth have it. I will show you a new possibility. Don't dedicate your life to be like others want you to be… Seek to be yourself, knowing and listening to your inner voice. She will tell you what your vocation is, your mission in this life. "And with that said, the owl has disappeared."
"My inner voice…?" To be myself?… Know me?… Vocation?… Mission?…
The desperate tree asked herself, when suddenly she realized... And closing her eyes and ears, she can open her heart and hear an inner voice saying:
“You will never bear apples because you are not an apple tree, nor will you bloom every spring because you are not a rosebush. You are an oak tree, and your destiny is to grow large and majestic. Provide shelter for birds, shade for travelers, beauty for the landscape… That's your vocation. That's what you were born for. Find out how to speak up and fulfill your mission.
The tree felt strong and sure of itself and prepared to be all it was meant to be. Thus, it soon grew and came to be admired and respected by everyone.
Only then was the garden completely happy.
