The cap that wouldn't let go

The boy was coming out of high school and was going on a wonderful run. Half of the body facing the wall, along the abeca, playing career with its own shadow. The briefcase almost slipped from under his arm in the effort to get his legs too far forward so he could win this game.
Her legs and arms flew, looking in her gestures for a way to leave the shadow behind. And he thought about how he would like to lose the cap he was wearing hidden under his shirt…
