Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who had been locked up in a tower by an evil king. Whenever the king set out on his travels, he sent a dragon to guard the tower.
It turns out that this dragon looked fierce and breathed fire; no one dared enter the tower while he stood guard.
The princess got lonely at the top of her tower and started talking to the dragon.
“Dear dragon,” she said, “why do the stars shine so bright at night?
And the dragon looked at the stars and marveled at the beauty of the night.
Slowly, with her gentle company, the dragon lost all its ferocity and began to be best friends with him.
One fine day, a gallant prince arrived in the kingdom mounted on a horse ready to save the princess, but what bad luck! He couldn't get into the tower because of the huge iron locks on the gates!
With a breath of fire, the gentle dragon melted those locks and helped the princess escape from the tower with her knight.
Grateful, the prince invited the dragon to live in his castle, the dragon would be tasked with keeping the fireplaces burning!
