This story is true true. In 1903, the Swiss Emílio Goeldi ran an important museum in the city of Belém, capital of Pará, which today bears his name. That's when he received from Vicente C. de Miranda, a scholar of the Amazon at the time, small fish caught in a well dug in his house, on Ilha de Marajó, also in Pará. The find left everyone with a flea behind their ears: how did the fish end up in the well? Was it swimming under the earth? Amazingly, these fish, even today, are little known and remain in the sights of scientists, who ___________ thousand stories to tell about them...
