There are several species of water flea. Each one has a different shape, but they all resemble the insect enemy of dogs and cats. Some have a thin body, while others are more rounded. There are those that have antennae and even structures that look like little eyes, as is the case with the Chydoridae, which encompasses many species of water fleas found only on the banks of rivers with vegetation. Aquatic plants provide them with shelter and protection from predators.
