Felids are animals belonging to the Felidae family, encompassing cats (wild and domestic). They are animals that vary greatly in size, from the rusty cat (1.5kg) to the tiger (300kg), divided into 40 species spread throughout the world, except for Australia and Antarctica. This family has the greatest diversity of coat patterns among carnivores. They inhabit from dense forests to arid regions, from flooded plains to mountainous regions. They have a strictly carnivorous diet, usually hunting alone. In Brazil, there are 10 species of this family.
