The creator of the Olympic Games of the modern era was Baron de Coubertin. His real name was Pierre de Fredy. He was born in Paris, France, on January 1, 1863 and died in Geneva, Switzerland, on September 2, 1937. His heart, sealed in a bronze urn, is buried in Olympia, next to the temple erected for the Greek gods.
Baron de Coubertin was an expert pistol-shooter in his youth. Therefore, he insisted on including the sport in the first Games, in 1896.
