The National Museum of the Manga-larga Horse is a starting point for tours and discoveries about this genuinely Brazilian breed.
In the exploration of Colonial Brazil, in the consolidation of farms and cities in the interior of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the qualities of the horse were forged Manga-larga Marchador, which had a significant influence on Brazilian history by participating in all its economic cycles, whether as a means of transport or traction, exchange currency or merchandise.
The museological route presents, through collections, videos and text, the development of race in Brazil. Its specificities and differentials, daily life and other aspects are portrayed in the long-term exhibition, which reveals the importance of the horse and the region where this breed emerged, which spread and captivated lovers throughout world.
The Museum is a realization of the Barão de Alfenas Foundation, founded in 2006 to make a dream shared by creators come true of the breed, and the Brazilian Association of Manga-larga Marchador Horse Breeders, in partnership with the Flávio Cultural Institute Gutierrez.
Discover the history of the Manga-larga Marchador horse and learn more about its importance to our economy, culture and social development.
Located in Praça da Matriz, in the center of Cruzília, southern Minas Gerais, the house that belonged to Fazenda Bela Cruz, one of the pillar farms of the breed, houses a synthesis of this history.
