Coliseum

Often featured in European films, the great Colosseum is an oval amphitheater located in the city center of Rome, the capital of Italy. Built with bricks coated with mortar and sand, and originally covered with travertine, it is the largest amphitheater ever built and is situated east of the Roman Forum.

Construction began under Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD. Ç. and was completed in 80 d. C., under the regime of his successor and heir Tito.
