Today this tuber is practically absent on Brazilian tables and almost extinct in crops, although believe that it was already abundantly consumed by the Indians, even before the Portuguese arrived for here.
The fact is that mangarito has a flavor similar to a mixture of potato, manioc, manioc, yam and yam (the latter, even, from the same family). All at once.
In general, he says, a kilo of the tuber yields very little, despite its unique flavor. So much so that it is hardly found in fairs and markets. But the fact is that the mangarito, after being cooked, takes on a tender consistency, reminiscent of European chestnuts.
