Big family

There are fifteen hundred known species of cicadas distributed throughout the world.

Each emits a characteristic sound, with different decibels. The smallest ones manage to achieve such a high-pitched sound that the song is not heard by the human ear, only by dogs and other animals.

The period of life underground also varies between species, as does the time of rising to the surface.

Known for being large insects, cicadas are also distinguished by their body shape and size, which varies between 15 and 65 millimeters in length and up to 10 centimeters in wingspan.
