The Consumer Electronics Show, which took place in Las Vegas between January 5th and 8th, featured several demonstrations of new technologies that will be implemented in the market. The German producer BMW was not left out of the innovations, presenting a new prototype of the i Vision Dee, a car that can change the color of the painting according to the will of the driver, among other news.
The idea, however, is not new. At the same fair, in 2021, the company presented the BMW iX, which marked the birth of the concept, but the car it could only switch to colors included in the spectrum of white and black. In the new model, you can choose from 32 available colors.

The vehicle's name, i Vision Dee, stands for Digital Emotional Experience. According to the company, the idea for the name came from the concept of providing a greater connection between the vehicle and people.
“With the BMW i Vision Dee, we are showing what is possible when hardware and software merge. In this way, we are able to exploit the full potential of digitalization to transform the car into a smart companion. This is the future for car manufacturers – and for BMW too: the fusion of the virtual experience with the genuine pleasure of driving", highlighted the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the automaker, Oliver Zipse;
This resource of changing the color of the vehicle really can provide a greater bond between driver and vehicle, and, thus, it is possible to choose a color based on the mood of those behind the wheel, the weather of the day, among other expressions.
The technology works with 240 parts divided into the car's paintwork, each of which can be colored individually, which the company calls ePaper.
Not only was the painting innovative, the vehicle has many other technologies inside. For example, there's a new display of information on the car's windshield called the BMW Head Up Display, and a new BMW Mixed Reality Slider, which allows the driver to choose the digital content that will appear in the Head Up Display.
However, this prototype should not reach the markets, being just a sample of the technologies that will be implemented in the brand's vehicles from 2025, a phase that the company named Neue Klasse (new class).
