In Brazil, it is estimated that nearly 1 million people are infected with Chagas and that 6,000 of them die annually from chronic complications of the disease. With that in mind, on April 14, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Day to Combat Chagas Disease (MSF) launched a campaign to show that disease still exists and continues to affect the health and quality of life of people around the world, especially in Latin America, where it is endemic. Chagas disease mainly affects the heart, causing arrhythmias and other disorders. Recently, the Ministry of Health in Brazil made a commitment to create pilot projects in five states so that patients in Chagas have access to the health care they need. Discover and share the story of people affected by the disease at chagas.msf.org.br.
